"Rock Tumbler was looking for a new project, and Bob Hoffnar (pedal steel guitar player) introduced us to the improvisational work of Austin saxophone/flute legend Alex Coke with his septet: Alex (woodwinds), Bob (steel guitar), Stephen Bidwell (drums), Elaine Barber (harp), Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten and Arjen Gorter (bass), and Michael St. Clair (trombone). The record is a document of a fun afternoon with a small pile of musicians doing what they love to do." - Rock Tumbler Records

The five songs on this record take two main forms. “Meditation”, the title track, and “The Sorrow of Guernica” draw heavily from done and mix in quiet, jazzy textures like marimba, trumpet, and light percussion. “Slow Cascade of Tears” and “Heatstroke Mirage” draw more explicitly from progressive rock and zeuhl.

Dennis Gonzalez is one of the most supremely talented musicians around...his catalog is an amazing blend of free jazz, fantastic compositions, and beautiful collaborations with multiple talented players in the groups Ataraxia Trio +2, and Yells at Eels, a collaboration with his two sons. His solo work is a blend of lilting, floating superbly played songs created from his musical genius. Roxanne D Flynn
